Recipients of Gavilan College scholarships are primarily considered for selection based on the following criteria, in addition to the requirements identified by the donor:
* Demonstrated academic achievement
* Financial need, as verified through the Financial Aid Office
* Leadership potential and/or community engagement. 
* Enrollment at Gavilan College is in good standing.
